Volleyball Tryouts:

Monday 8/15- grade 8
Tuesday 8/16 - grade 7
Wednesday 8/17 - grade 6
Thursday 8/18 - grade 5

Friday 8/19 - Team Assignments delivered via email

Tryout Instructions:
  • 3:00- 3:15 pm - Get dressed out in P.E. shorts, P.E. shirt, athletic shoes (NO vans, converse or similar styled shoes) and knee pads
  • 3:20 pm - Come to the check in table by the shade structure & get your tryout number.
  • 3:20-3:30 pm- After you are checked in with your number, get a ball and practice serving/ passing, hitting with a partner.
  • there will be a short discussion before breaking up into groups before evaluations
*there will be water, but it would be a good idea to bring your own water and snack

Volleyball tryouts and evaluations start on Monday.  All tryouts start at 3:15 pm. Bring a change of clothes and water.

FLAG FOOTBALL TRYOUTS & EVALUATIONS THIS SATURDAY!

5th-6th Grades: 8:00-9:30 am
7th-8th Grades 9:00-10:30 am

Make sure you bring water!

The purpose of tryouts is to evaluate the overall talent pool to ensure the most appropriate team placement for each player and the overall program. More information about the football program can be found on our website under the PROGRAMS tab.

Physical Evaluation Forms MUST be on file for your son to participate in tryouts.  No Exceptions.

REGISTRATION IS THURSDAY AM
Athlete Registration for all sports is tomorrow at 7:45 am. in Parish Hall. This is NOT a meeting.  Simply drop off your student's completed registration forms.

CLINICS
1:00 pm 6th Grade Volleyball Clinic
3:00 pm 8th Grade Volleyball Clinic
6:30 pm Flag Football Clinic

COACHES MEETING
5:00 Coaches Meeting and Registration

PHYSICALS NEEDED BEFORE TRYOUTS

Be aware that all athletes must have a physical and turn in a Physical Examination Form signed by a doctor BEFORE team evaluation/tryouts (this Saturday for Football/Volleyball).  It is against Diocese policy to allow any student to participate in tryouts without this form on record. This form is included in the Athlete Registration Packet.

If you are unable to see your regular doctor for a physical, you may try an "urgent care" or "no appointment needed" clinic, such as Doctor Express located at 3931 E Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018

COACHES MEETING & REGISTRATION

The first coaches meeting for Fall Sports is Thursday, August 11 from 5:00-6:00 pm at STA in Parish Hall.  Please review all information under the COACHES tab on the website and complete the requirements ASAP.

PROBLEM ACCESSING GOOGLE DOCS

Google Docs announced recently that there was a problem accessing "public" Google Docs, particularly "pdf" format documents.  They also announced that they have fixed this problem.

If you experienced problems viewing and printing any documents from this website before August 6th, such as the Athlete Registration Packet, please try again.  If you continue to have problems accessing these online documents, please let the Athletic Department know.

Don't forget to sign up for our preseason flag football and volleyball clinics.  The STAA Commissioners have arranged for professional training prior to sports tryouts. All coaches and athletes should attend these clinics to get a jump on the upcoming season! 

Also - Note the cost of the Football Clinic has changed to $10.00.

ATHLETE REGISTRATION - THURSDAY 8/11

READY... SET... GO MUSTANGS!

The S.T.A. Athletics Registration event is coming up on Thursday, August 11th in the Parish Hall.  ALL STUDENTS wishing to participate in ANY SPORT this school year need to have a completed Annual Registration Packet and the $25 registration fee turned in at registration.

Registration tables will be open for business from 7:45 am until 9:00 am. We will have tables for each grade for ease and speed.

Go to the new athletics website at www.STAAthletics.org to download and print all the necessary forms. (FYI - One diocesan form must be notarized and the physical exam form must be completed by a doctor. Info on possible physical exam appointments on Wednesday, August 10 is on the website too!)

Although this is NOT a meeting, S.T.A. Athletics and Team Mustang leaders will be on hand to field questions about the upcoming year in sports.

So... DROP IN, DROP OFF the documents and GET a new S.T.A.A. water bottle for your student athlete for FREE!
